Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU) is a state university founded in 2006 with more than 1000 academics, over 1500 non academic employees and 33 thousand students of which working in 12 faculties 4 instituties, 24 Application Research Centers. In 2018, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, under the coordination of the Higher Education Board has been selected as a pilot university in the "Animal Husbandry field" within the scope of the Mission Differentiation and Specialization of Universities Project with a Focus on Regional Development, carried out in cooperation with the Presidency Strategy and Budget Directorate. The integrated development model based on differentiation in agriculture and animal husbandry is based on three main axes with the aim of developing local animal breeds of Burdur province under the leadership of the University, gaining qualified breeds through genetic breeding, protecting animal health, increasing meat-milk yield, and creating added value based on animal industry. University has a Agriculture, Livestock and Food Research and Application Center which is supporting academic staff in areas relevant to this project. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine provides education, research, clinical and field services in the field of animal husbandry. The university has the largest full-fledged animal hospital in the region.
