Institut national de la recherche agronomique france

INRAE is the world's number one institute for research on agriculture, food, and the environment, three overlapping themes of major importance. Within INRAE, the UMRH (Joint Research Unit on Herbivores) oversees research programs aiming at designing sustainable farming systems for herbivores, seeking to reconcile production efficiency, product quality and socio-economic viability with environmental protection and valorisation, and animal welfare. Within the UMRH, Team BIOMARKERS (Biomarkers of performances, adaptation, and qualities) conducts research on ruminant meat and milk productions at the animal level by combining experimental and in silico, omics or biochemistry analyses. We contributed to three scientific domains of the unit: feed efficiency, adaptive capacities, and product quality. The team has a recognized expertise on the biochemical composition of ruminant meat and its impact on its nutritional quality (fine fatty acid composition, peroxidation index, antioxidant enzymes and compounds).
